Organic Food and Health

According to a report in BBC News dated 5 July 2007
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/health/6272634.stm
(Organic food 'better' for heart)
a 10 year study by a team at the University of California led by Dr Alyson Mitchell, a food chemist, found that the level of flavonoids (a type of antioxidant very important for your health) in organic tomatoes to be almost double that of the conventionally grown tomatoes. This study was reported in the Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry and confirms recent European studies which found that organic tomatoes, peaches and apples have better nutritional quality than its non-organic equivalent.

Flavonoids have been shown to reduce high blood pressure, lowering the risk of heart disease and stroke, some types of cancer and dementia.

There are some who may be of the opinion that organic food may not bring greater health benefits than conventionally produced food, but whatever it is, I think no one will argue that the non-use of pesticides by itself will win the argument for organic food. And a significant segment of the population seem to have been persuaded that organic products are better and are prepared to pay the higher price.

Organic health products is one place where you can shop for such organic products. Included in their site are organic food, Personal Care, including Organic Skin Care and organic vitamines.
